The famous Windows cleaner now for Mac
CCleaner is one of the most widely used and downloaded maintenance tools for Windows. Now CCleaner for Mac is finally available, albeit in a much more reduced form.
The first thing you notice from this version if you've ever used CCleaner for Windows is how many features are missing. The Uninstaller, the Drive Wiper and Tools section are all missing. Of course, some of these, such as The Registry Cleaner, aren't relevant to Macs anyway but its clear from the start that Mac users have a much reduced version.
In terms of browsers, CCleaner for Mac is strictly limited to cleaning Safari and Firefox - Chrome and Opera are not supported. It does, however, allow you to select exactly which parts of the browsers you want to clean (i.e. include or exclude, cookies, history, download history, etc.) In terms of hard drive cleaning, CCleaner for Mac supports cleaning trash, recent files and servers, cleaning of temporary folders and recent applications.
That's about it for functionality. There is a Preference option under File but its not accessible yet for some reason.
When it comes to actually cleaning, CCleaner is fast like the Windows version. There's no progress bar to tell you how things are going though if you Analyze or Clean - just a short pause and then a report of what's been done.
CCleaner for Mac is nowhere near as complete as the Windows version but as a one-stop cleaning tool for anyone that's familiar with the Windows version, it's worth installing.
Added Login Item management. Added removal of un-needed languages from applications. Added Gatekeeper support for Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8). Fixed bug that could cause results to be reported incorrectly. Improved updating of cookie list after cleaning. Improved support for cleaning individual rules. Empty results are now hidden from detailed Analysis results. Fixed issue that could incorrectly identify a running browser. Several minor UI tweaks.

Good cleaning tool for novice Mac users.
CCleaner is easy to use optimization utility for your Mac. It cleans traces of users online activity with several clicks. It helps to regain hard disk space. All the applications installed on your Mac are listed under cleaner section. If you no longer need some application - just find it on the list and click uninstall. You can also manage the list of apps that you want to launch upon log in. It helps to control automatic startup of selected apps and boost your log in time. This is pretty useful feature for novice Mac users. However this is unnecessary. You can set up the same thing in Login items(go to system preferences/Users&Groups/Login items ). I found Repair Permissions and Erase Free Space options completely useless. You can do the same with built in Disk Utility application. Pros:
user friendly interface
Cons:
you can do the same things without installing any application More
